Unveiling the Power of Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient healing practice backed by modern science.
Acupuncture, one of the key components of traditional Chinese medicine, uses thin needles at specific body points to restore health and well-being. It's known to relieve pain, reduce stress, and improve sleep. At Mandala Center for Health & Wellness, we blend this ancient wisdom with contemporary techniques to promote your body’s natural healing process. Experience the benefits of acupuncture today.

How does Acupuncture work?
One of the greatest strengths of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture is that it views the human body holistically and as an extension of nature and our surroundings. Many Western medical theories on the mechanism of Acupuncture also express that holistic sentiment.
- A myriad of sensory nerves under the skin and in the muscles are stimulated by the insertion of an Acupuncture needle. This stimulation triggers impulses that travel to the central nervous system, including the brain, spinal cord, and organs leading to pain relief and improved overall physiologic function.
- Acupuncture is also thought to affect the release and regulation of various neurotransmitters in the body, such as endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine. These neurotransmitters play essential roles in regulating pain perception, mood, and emotions, contributing to the therapeutic effects of acupuncture on mental health and stress management.
- The insertion of an acupuncture needle causes a "micro-injury" that leads to increased blood flow and the release of natural chemicals that promote tissue healing and the reduction of inflammation in the area. Areas of tight muscle tissue and fascia are also release through the mechanism of Acupuncture, allowing for improved tone and joint mobility and a reduction in pain.
Does my Insurance Cover Acupuncture?
Many health care plans offer coverage for acupuncture treatments. Plans vary with the amount they cover. Some insurance plans require a medical doctor’s referral to be covered, while other plans allow us as therapists to bill them directly, allowing the patient to incur little or no out of pocket expense. Please check with your individual plan for thier billing and coverage detials.
In adddtion to private plans, the Acupuncturists at Mandala are pleased to bill Veterans Affairs Canada and the RCMP plans.
